With a love of water and desire to undertake an extreme mental and physical challenge, this adventurous couple are aiming to set a new world record, raise money for frontline medical charities and promote equality in ultra-events.
In December 2021, Charlie and Adam, two A&E doctors are temporarily hanging up their scrubs and taking on the world's toughest row, The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic.
Dubbed the Emergensea Duo, they hope to raise £100,000 for charities that encompass saving lives by air, land and sea: The Devon Air Ambulance, RD&E charity, RNLI & Mind. They will race against 37 other International teams, and aim to beat the mixed pair world record which currently stands at 43 days, 15 hours and 22 minutes.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge (TWAC for short) is a challenge like no other. It sees people from all across the globe come together to take on the race of a lifetime: crossing an ocean in a rowing boat. This 3,000 mile journey across the Atlantic ocean kicks off in La Gomera, Canary Island with the finish line in Antigua in the Caribbean.
As official safety partner to Emergensea Duo, Charlie and Adam will be equipped with an array of Crewsaver equipment, some of which have been designed specifically for ocean rowing.
