From shop floor to sales desk, Paul Polkinghorne takes on his next challenge at Crewsaver, Survitec.

At Crewsaver & Survitec, we like a good success story, and Paul’s is one that doesn’t disappoint. After joining the team in December 2007, he has now started on a new career path with the company.

When Paul first joined the team, he worked in the RLNI lifejacket department, working his way to packing in 2009 and then made the leap to dispatch in 2010. After two years of hard work Paul was made Dispatch Supervisor. In 2014, Paul moved into stores and became Store and Warehouse Team Leader and was there until August 2019.

He now takes on a new role in the sales office as ‘Sales Coordinator’, looking after customers’ needs and working to meet their requirements with particular focus on European exports and commercial sales.  Some of the customer groups Paul will look after include; Scottish Sea Farms, RLNI the environment agency and more.

We asked Paul some questions about his big move from the shop floor to the sales desk:

What made you decide to move jobs within Crewsaver?

I had gone as far as I could on the shop floor and needed a new challenge.  I have always tried to better myself with this company. With my skills set and training obtained over the last 12 years moving into the sales office was the logical choice.

Did anyone encourage, you to make the move or did you want to yourself?

Both actually. Both my managers, Chris Cox and Matt Bridge, could see the potential I had and encouraged a move into sales. It didn’t happen straight away though it was a gradual process.

What is your favourite part of the new role?

The challenge of learning new things, the new group of people to work closely with and ultimately gaining the experience.

What is your favourite part of working for Crewsaver?

The people mainly. They are a fantastic group of people to work with. I like that we don’t just make any old products but that we make life saving equipment that really could make a difference to someone’s life.

We would like to wish Paul the best of luck in his new role, and are so glad that he has decided to grow his career with us here at Crewsaver.
