At Survitec our purpose is clear: we exist to protect lives and we linked our volunteering activity to this purpose.
Between October 11th, and October 15th the Executive team sponsored a ‘Purpose Day’ – a half day off for all team members to volunteer together in local communities. Here at Crewsaver HQ, we jumped on this opportunity to take part in this wonderful initiative.
“The ocean and the coastline play such an important role in our lives, both in and out of work, so it was key we focused our Purpose Day volunteering on giving back in this area” said Chris Cox, Operational Planning Manager.
Crewsaver is surrounded by wonderful coastline that needs looking after, so armed with litter pickers and bin bags, we decided to go litter picking on our local beaches.
Procurement Supervisor Rachel Shepherd said “Many people stopped us to ask why we were doing the litter pick, when we responded they seemed genuinely pleased and thanked us for doing a great job. Members of the public shouted, thank you and keep up the good work, it was quite heart-warming knowing we were doing something purposeful for our local community.”
We were amazed how much litter there actually was, so it was a good job worth doing. We were spotted by other members of the public and they posted about us on Lee on Solent Matters Facebook page – was great to know we had been recognised!” she said.
Thank you to everyone across the organisation who took part in Purpose Day! We look forward to volunteering in our local community again next year.
